A regional development meeting aimed at integrating Sakarya's agricultural potential with circular economy models was successfully convened with the participation of relevant stakeholders.
Organized through a partnership between the Sakarya Commodity Exchange (STB), the Eastern Marmara Development Agency (MARKA), and the Northern Agricultural Development Cooperative, the meeting saw Sakarya University's (SAÜ) Center for Economic and Social Research (SESAM) represented by its Director, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ümmügülsüm Zor.
The agenda centered on future-period strategies and collaborative project objectives concerning the transformation of agricultural waste generated by production processes across Sakarya into environmentally sustainable and innovative products. At this synergy meeting — which brought together regional actors, producers, and representatives of public institutions — the prospects of mainstreaming a zero-waste approach in agriculture and the added value that a transition toward sustainable agri-food systems could generate for the Sakarya economy were comprehensively assessed.
This meeting is regarded as a significant step in line with our university's mission to provide scientific contributions to regional development processes and to strengthen inter-stakeholder collaboration.
